Designing Cities Tour – Copenhagen
In partnership with Smart Dubai, we designed and delivered a fully immersive, five-day executive program in Copenhagen for 30 senior government officials, as part of Dubai’s Happiness Agenda.
The goal: to explore how citizen-centered innovation, design thinking, and future-ready city strategies could be applied in practice — and to turn those insights into real, measurable change back home. Working closely with the leadership team at Smart Dubai, we crafted a customized learning journey in collaboration with the Danish Design Centre and the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design.
The program combined:
- Executive-level workshops
- Curated site visits to innovation hubs and public-sector pioneers
- Hands-on design labs tackling real urban challenges
- Facilitated team-building to strengthen alignment and trust
The program’s structure empowered participants not just to absorb ideas, but to develop, prototype, and pitch solutions during the tour itself. This culminated in a post-tour implementation phase, which resulted in more than 20 organization-specific innovation projects and 3 city-wide initiatives, including:
- The Happiness Tunnel - at Dubai International Airport – reimagining the arrivals experience with input from 8 government entities
- The Art of Offering Services - redesigning public services through co-creation and customer journeys
- Next-Gen Career Fairs - improving recruitment experiences across the Emirate by engaging job seekers directly
Each participant was certified as a “Happy Citizen Practitioner” underlining both their commitment and capability to lead innovation within their entities.
From scope to execution, we led the program design, facilitation, and delivery, ensuring every component was aligned with Smart Dubai’s strategic ambitions — and most importantly, that it sparked real impact back home. Watch it here.

Perspective on Space
In collaboration with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), we designed and delivered two customized learning expeditions to Silicon Valley.
In partnership with Smart Dubai, we designed and delivered a fully immersive, five-day executive program in Copenhagen for 30 senior government officials, as part of Dubai’s Happiness Agenda.
The goal: to stretch perspectives, challenge conventional thinking, and explore the mindsets, strategies, and innovation cultures that define the world’s leading tech ecosystem.
While the focus remained on space and technology, the goal of the program was broader: to challenge perspectives, introduce new ways of thinking, and expose participants to people and industries outside their immediate field.
Throughout the tour, participants met both leaders within the space and tech industries, and individuals from completely different sectors — from creative technologists to systems thinkers. This combination provided rich, contrasting perspectives on what the future will demand from institutions and leaders alike.
The five-day experience included:
- Visits to innovation labs and deep tech companies
- Conversations with future thinkers and interdisciplinary leaders
- Sessions on trends, leadership, and innovation culture
- Facilitated reflections to connect learning back to MBRSC’s strategic goals
We believe that meaningful innovation often comes from connecting with those you'd least expect. By stepping outside their own field, MBRSC’s leadership was able to reflect more critically on their own strategies, spot blind spots, and gain insights that wouldn't have surfaced in a purely technical setting. The outcomes spoke for themselves: the tour inspired the creation of a new innovation lab within MBRSC, modeled on many of the principles observed during the experience. The mindset shift and insights gained also helped pave the way for a key milestone — the launch of MBRSC’s first rover to the moon.

Urban Futures
In collaboration with the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai, we designed and delivered two immersive learning expeditions exploring the future of urban mobility and livable cities — first in Barcelona, then in Berlin.
The aim was to step beyond reports and policies, and instead experience how future-oriented cities are planned, built, and lived in. Through curated site visits, conversations with citymakers, and walking the streets themselves, the RTA team gained first-hand insight into how public space, infrastructure, and mobility interact.
In Barcelona, we explored how the city is reclaiming streets through superblocks, integrating mixed-use mobility hubs, and restoring public parks for citizens — asking how cities can become places we truly belong in, not just pass through.
In Berlin, the focus shifted to long-term, climate-resilient infrastructure and how urban transformation happens over time. A visit to the Radbahn test field showcased how a single bold idea — turning underutilized space into a public cycling corridor — can become a broader conversation about inclusion, sustainability, and urban identity.
Across both programs, the goal was to bring RTA’s leadership into contact with new perspectives and new environments — helping shape how Dubai continues to evolve as a people-centered, future-ready city. Watch it here.
